Transatlantic Liner 'Bremen' and 'Europa'

The model has no bottom engraving ( engrav - )
Chimneys nearly cylindric, without depression.
The ships name is made in handwriting at the upper deck just beneath the catapult.
The model has got a catapult capable plane (missing on the photo).
Due to too thin side walls some models were filled with plaster that was painted black afterwards ( bottom - / + ).
Length 23,2 cm.
The model is packed in a cardboard box with cover with printing on it. The printing on top of the cover is a anchor with a swastika in the eye, beside that 'WIKING-MODELLE' plus 'D. R. G. M.' is printed. Below it says 'unter dem Protektorat des Reichsbundes Deutscher Seegeltung' and 'Das Meer, das ist das Tor der Welt. Ein Narr, der sich's nicht offen hält'.
A package with printing "Lloyd-Express: BREMEN, EUROPA, COLUMBUS" is known as well.

Some models include a catapult capable plane, some have the hole in the catapult but no plane, some have neither the hole nor the plane ( hole P+ / + / - ).
Whether a model with hole in the catapult was originaly delivered without plane, of if just the plane got lost is surely not ascertainable any more.

Transatlantic Liner 'Bremen' / 'Europa' with angular camouflage

During World War II many passenger ships were modified with camouflage.
There were several paterns used during time. At first a sharp angular 2-color-painting was used, then demarcation line became cloudy. WIKING dublicated this in the models.

Transatlantic Liner 'Europa' for the USA

After World War II the 'Europa' was taken as reparation by the USA. She is said to be driven there in a modified color. The model shown below is not an official delivery of WIKING, it comes out of the WIKING experimental workshop of Friedrich Peltzer that was sold after his death.

Transatlantic Liner 'Bremen' with multi-color-camouflage

Camouflage was improved during progress of World War II. Using more colors helped to blur more the silhouette of a ship.
As far as we know, there exist no color photos of the ship, only descriptions made by whitnesses of the era.
The model shown below was created by a collector using descriptions and b/w-photos ... so this model is not a real WIKING model.

Transatlantic Liner 'Bremen' / 'Europa' as a blank

The shown model was not officially deliverd by WIKING.
The blanks were delivered to home workers. They made the model ready by, taking of the burrs, adjusting and shortening the masts to correct size, painting the whole model and then fixing the decails.
A few blanks came on the market due to the selling of the estate after Friedrich Peltzers death, many of them were "forgotten" at the home workers at the time of withdrawal of ship production.
